Converting CESR Into an X-Ray Source
Richard Talman
Cornell University

Electron-positron colliding beam physics at CESR is scheduled to terminate in 2008. After this the facility will be dedicated to x-ray science. This talk will describe a plan for converting the generously-sized ring into a rapid cycling (to suppress Touschek effect) minimum emittance light source expected to have spectral brightness greater than any existing source. This option will be compared to another plan that employs the energy recovery principle.
