Filling the Terahertz Gap

Gwyn Williams
FEL/Light Sources, JLab

The THz spectral region lies between electronics on the one hand and photonics on the other. Accelerator scientists know well that short bunches of electrons generate copious amounts of "coherent synchrotron radiation" in the THz range. In this talk I will talk about harnessing this light for basic research, outlining the history path and the opportunities, particularly for Jefferson Lab.
