Recent experimental results provide tantalizing new evidence for the existence of a light pseudoscalar particle that couples to photons. If correct, this interpretation of those results indicate a new mass scale in particle physics. This physics may be testable at the Jefferson Lab Free Electron Laser. I will present an overview of previous studies and results as motivation, indicate several of the ideas that have been discussed by a group of interested scientists at Hampton University and Jefferson Lab to test the new claims in a completely independent way, and explain details of a proposed first measurement using the Jefferson Lab FEL.
