The Sextupole Scheme for the Swiss Light Source (SLS): An Analytic Approach

Johan Bengtsson
Schlumberger

Modern techniques for single particle Hamiltonian dynamics have been applied in the pursuit of self-consistent modeling combining numerical and analytical methods. This framework was used effectively in the search for a solution of the "Sextupole Problem" for SLS. In particular, to maintain a +/-4% momentum acceptance for various linear optics. In the process, we also verified that perturbation theory works as expected, i.e. reasonable well, for the relevant regions of phase space.
