CASA Seminar
A sub panel of the High Energy Physics Advisory Panel was charged
last year to produce a national road map for HEP for the next twenty
years. The sub panel was supposed to weigh the scientific promise
and programmatic importance of both accelerator and non accelerator
based efforts. The plan should indicate what funding levels the
road map would require (including possible construction of new
facilities), and what the impacts and priorities should be if the
funding available provides constant level of effort (FY 2001
President's Budget Request) into the years (FY 2002-2022).”
This is a very broad charge and the sub panel tried to answer it
giving very clear guidance on what the future for high energy
physics should be. The HEPAP sub panel report is out as a draft
and has initiated a lot of discussion on priorities. The talk will
try to summarize the approach, intermediate steps and the results
of the report and try to explain the five most strongest recommendations.
