Beam Physics Seminar
Due to the significant investment required and the large size of
proposed future accelerators, there is considerable interest around
the world in the forming a global collaboration to build, commission
and remotely operate such a facility. The "Global Accelerator Network"
concept has been proposed as a means for inter-regional collaboration
in the operation of internationally constructed frontier accelerator
facilities. A workshop entitled "Enabling the Global Accelerator Network"
was held in March at Cornell University. The workshop emphasized
conceptual and system aspects of a Global Control System including
control system elements and tools and challenges related to communication
and community building. This talk will summarize the results of the
Cornell workshop.
