Enabling the Global Accelerator Network

Karen S. White
JLab

Due to the significant investment required and the large size of proposed future accelerators, there is considerable interest around the world in the forming a global collaboration to build, commission and remotely operate such a facility. The "Global Accelerator Network" concept has been proposed as a means for inter-regional collaboration in the operation of internationally constructed frontier accelerator facilities. A workshop entitled "Enabling the Global Accelerator Network" was held in March at Cornell University. The workshop emphasized conceptual and system aspects of a Global Control System including control system elements and tools and challenges related to communication and community building. This talk will summarize the results of the Cornell workshop.
